The Classroom Teacher, Student Safety and Education Measure is on the November 3 ballot as
Measure T.
This measure gives local voters a chance to take control of their own schools and neighborhoods. We must pass Measure T now, otherwise we place our children's future in the hands of greedy Sacramento politicians -- the same politicians who have bankrupted our state and shortchanged our kids for far too long.
Sacramento's poor choices have forced the Long Beach Unified School District to cut more than $100 million from its budget over the past five years, but LBUSD has remained a well-managed, award-winning model for school districts nationally. Sadly, greedy Sacramento politicians stole even more of our school funding to solve their own budget mess, leaving our local schools with another $95 million shortfall. The state’s latest budget grab will now force LBUSD schools to lay off teachers and cut vital, successful programs. All of the progress we’ve made improving education, reducing class size, enhancing student safety and raising test scores is in jeopardy – unless we take action together.
Measure T on the November 3, 2009 Ballot Will:
Measure T allows voters to keep money here in local schools, giving parents, teachers and principals the power to help our 87,000 students and 93 schools.
